A Talit Gadol (also spelled as taleth or talet or tallis) is a Jewish prayer shawl worn on the shoulders in the synagogue on Shabbat and holidays, and while reciting morning prayers. The talit gadol is usually woven of wool or silk. Today some talitot are made of polyester and cotton. Talit gadol may be of any colour but is usually white with black, blue or white stripes along the edge. Sizes of talitot vary, and are a matter of custom and preference.
